Governors
Spend academy points on small permanent upgrades that last the season.
Governors are the slow track beside officers. Officers cost Dark Matter and give a few large steps; governors cost academy points and give many small ones. Every level counts as a permanent bonus (How bonuses combine): it adds to your officers and never multiplies them.

What a level costs
The first levels of a governor are the cheapest. Every few levels the price per level rises by a step, so the table shows what the first and the last level cost and what all levels of one governor cost together. You can raise a governor by one level or by five at a time; a level you cannot pay for yet still shows its price.
Earning academy points
Every claim of the bonus pays 1 to 2 academy points (Daily rewards and games).
You can claim the bonus at most 12 times a day, so steady play earns a steady stream of points.
Some containers hold academy points too (Stash and containers).

Do governors stack with officers?
Yes. Governors are permanent bonuses like officers, so their percentages add up in the same bucket. They never multiply each other.
Why is there no research or fleet speed governor?
Officers, Dark Matter extras, boosts and the alliance base already shorten build, research and flight times, and time is meant to matter. Governors raise strength, production, energy, storage, cargo, salvage and commander experience instead.
Do governors survive the season?
No. Governor levels start again with every season.
Can I buy academy points?
No. Academy points are earned in play only; no store item and no currency buys them.
