Auctions
The auction house runs in rounds: bid dark matter on boosts, ships, resources and commander items, and get your bid back when someone outbids you.
The auction house sells boosts, ships, resources, dark matter, officers and commander items. All of its lots run together in rounds.
Rounds
Every lot of a round ends at the same time. A round runs 6 hours in this universe: 6 hours on a universe of normal speed, shorter on a faster one, never shorter than 1 hour. When it ends, the highest bid wins each lot, and the next round starts with fresh copies of the lots.
Rarity
Every lot rolls a rarity when its round opens. A rarer lot holds more and costs more: its contents, its minimum bid and its buy-now price are multiplied by its rarity's multiplier.
| Rarity | Chance per lot | Contents and price |
|---|---|---|
| Poor | 20% | 0.5x |
| Common | 45% | 1x |
| Uncommon | 20% | 2x |
| Rare | 10% | 3x |
| Epic | 4% | 5x |
| Legendary | 0.9% | 10x |
| Artifact | 0.1% | 25x |
Bidding
Lots are bid in dark matter. Your bid is paid at once, and when someone bids more, your dark matter comes back to you. Each new bid has to beat the standing one by at least the lot's step.
Dark matter lots are the exception: they are bid in a resource, paid from the planet you are on, and an outbid bid goes back to that planet. The bigger the lot, the less each dark matter costs. A few older lots can still be bid in another currency; the page marks them, and a bid there is final whether you win or not.
Buy now
A lot with a buy-now price can be bought at once for antimatter. It ends for everyone, and its high bidder gets their bid back. For most lots the price is the minimum bid in dark matter turned into antimatter, times 1.5, so buying outright costs more than converting antimatter and bidding. A dark matter lot is the exception again: bought outright, each of its dark matter costs less antimatter than converting it would.
Won lots
What you win waits in your won lots until you pick it up. Ships and resources land on the planet you choose there, or on your home planet.
Questions
Do I lose my dark matter when I am outbid?
No. A dark matter bid comes back to you as soon as someone outbids you, and a dark matter lot's resource bid goes back to the planet it came from.
What happens to a lot nobody bids on?
It closes without a winner, and a fresh copy of it comes back in the next round.
Where does a lot I won go?
To your won lots. You pick it up there and choose the planet its ships or resources land on.
